THE 24% GAY MOUNTAIN TOWN OF ALTADENA REBUILDING AFTER THE EATON FIRE WELCOMES THE FURRY COMMUNITY TO YAMMO AND COURAGE’S FIRST FUR-MEET DURING THEIR 5TH ANNUAL PRIDE!

IT’S A MAJOR FUR-MEET INSIDE A PRIDE FESTIVAL!

JUNE 13TH FROM 10-5PM! 730 E ALTADENA DR!

COLD TENT ON-SITE BUT PLAN FOR POSSIBLE HEAT!

FURRIES! SEE THE FULL DAY BREAK-DOWN FOR YOU BELOW!

THE EVENT MOVES FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION WITHIN ONE MILE.
THAT’S WHY IT’S CALLED A “WALK-ABOUT!”

To start our engines, Altadena’s “Cars & Coffee” and “No EV” groups of post-fire car lovers will host a queerified car show complete with two-wheelers RIGHT across the street before our opening ceremonies. Come for the show, stay for the event. Specifically, happening at 735 E Altadena Dr.

As we’ve done for five years now. Our opening ceremonies will begin at 10am at the Altadena Community Center. We will then march together amongst hundreds down our main street (Lake) to our famous Altadena mural at Grocery Outlet where we will take an increasingly impressive group photo! A symbok of resilience for our fire-impacted town. The marching route will be lines with tables, fun freebies and snacks by many of our surviving and affirming businesses.

Surprise! The theme of this year is showing SOLIDARITY with our Latinx and Immigrant communities. Altadena is not only 24% queer, we are 30% Latino and their community has been fighting two crises at once as fire survivors who lost their homes AND targets of violent racial profiling by ICE. When we start our march down Lake right after opening ceremonies, we will quickly take our annual picture at the mural and then it will instantly turn into a human chain as we connect our half of the human-chain with the other half lining up along Woodbury Rd where they will meet us at where Woodbury meets Lake! With enough of us, it will be three miles long! Many other organizations are participating! Altadena Pride is one of them!

“Restore! Resist! ¡Realizar!”
It means Restore [our burned community], Resist [all forms of persecution] and ¡Realizar! [make it happen!]

Our local Pasadena Humane Society will be behind our community center offering free vaccinations for all our bio-pups and pussy cats! With this said, be aware when you suit up that you may be some of our four legged reflections! Efforts will be made to make sure their leashed and on non-intersectioning walking paths.

For our Furries, this is our main focus to make sure all our suited fuzz-butts feel safe and comfortable. A cold air-conditioned utility tent, in the shade with tons of snacks, water and drinks inside. All next to our entertainment and main stage. We’ll also have a dedicated roaming kart for cold hydration and electrolytes! We’re planning for a potentially hot day on June 13th. Regardless, be prepared for heat if you want to roam!

Well.. we actually lost all our churches in the fire. However around 11:30am, all our LGBTQ+ affirming congregations and spiritual leaders from a wide array of religions and forms non-belief will be inviting a truly all-welcoming crowd of queers and strange seekers to an inter-faith gathering immediately after our march and human chain at the CORE Hub center. The Los Angeles Trans choir will also be there! Christian, Wiccan, Baha’i’ Indigenous, Buddhist, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, etc. All are welcome. We will also have many tables from regional mental health institutions offering services maining for fire survivors.

In the very center of all our festivities will be a tiny blocked off road called Fontanet Way that will be transformed into Art Street. There several sidewalk chalk artists and art teachers that will be facilitating art workshops for all ages including 1000 voices, a local clay workshop series that started after the fire. This is also where we will have our painted rainbow crosswalk!

After an opening and blessing by our local indigenous dance group, Yankuititl, we will serve a huge variety of food at 1pm at our cozy shaded Triangle Park! Do you like Mexican? Thai? Vegan? Burgers? All free! We’ll have a little of everything! Everything’s local!

At the Altadena Community Center, taking place in some large closed off back offices will be our transformed Youth Sanctuary for all our queer youth! No adults allowed! This is their space!

After our entertainment portion starts at 2pm on our main outdoor stage at the Altadena Community Center, we will bring onstage a variety of professional acts, many brought to you by Altadena Musicians. And then before you know it, Yammo our co-host for Altadena FurEVER will take the stage and deliver a (VERY PG13 BUT PUSHING IT) show for all the Normies and Furries in the audience. :3c Thank you for all your help buddy!

The inside of our community center right behind our main stage will be lined with many tables representing regional LGBTQ+ clubs, orgs, services, wild projects and unexpected wonders. As well many tables representing this year’s theme of solidarity with our Latinx and Immigrant communities providing resources for them and ways for all of us to get involved and counter ICE terrorism. Expect Latino Equality, National Day Laborer Organizing Network, CHIR LA and several other orgs to be present.

ALSO inside and right behind our main stage, we will have a gallery showcasing art and multi-media pieces from many of our local queer artists. You also may see suited-up friendly faces from the Furry-division of Free Mom Hugs! I’m told many Latino moms will be there to offer hugs this year!
